IBISBA GR Research Infrastructure aims to provide, via its services, innovative protocols and procedures, novel innovative products and advanced software in the area of Industrial Biotechnology
IBISBA•GR serves as the Greek Node of the European Research Infrastructure IBISBA, bringing together multi-disciplinary and complementary expertise, by offering access to core facilities and services vital to leverage advances and technological innovations in Industrial Biotechnology for both large-scale and small-scale industrial applications, as well as in the broader research and academic community.
IBISBA•GR is based in Athens, at the School of Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. The node is instrumental to guide the Greek industry to tap on national supplies of renewable feedstocks, create value from new chemistries and produce commercially sustainable products featuring a Greek identity.
The scientific expertise and technological facilities of IBISBA•GR are directly linked to industrial domains including areas such as food and food ingredients, feed, biological and medical products, materials, and textiles, environmental activities, energy, human well–being and care products, cosmetics, drugs, bulk and fine chemicals, environment.
To work with nature to maximize and optimize existing biochemical pathways that can be used in manufacturing
To provide the necessary resources, environment, and support for researchers, scientists, and innovators and explore new ideas
To conduct cutting-edge experiments and collaborate across disciplines towards the provision of services and products adapted to Greek capabilities and needs
To enable biotechnology as a technological tool of the circular Bioeconomy in the country
To develop novel scientific concepts, tools and methodologies to support workflows for bioprocess development
